Mamas for Mamas

Mamas for Mamas in an all-inclusive community of Mamas looking after each other. No money exchanges hands as kindness is their currency. This group is the peer to peer, community-based platform for Mamas.

If you need help directly from the non-profit arm of the organization, please contact 236-420-0075 or [email protected] or contact your local Mamas for Mamas Business Page. Their goal is to provide a safe, respectful place where Mamas can provide items and services to one another at no financial cost through donating, trading, and lending to reduce the financial strain of low-income parenting.

By operating without traditional currency exchanging hands, they give the opportunity to those in a better financial position to donate directly to a mama in need and see firsthand the impact of their generosity. For those mamas who would otherwise need to sell their used items, we encourage them to trade for what they need within the organization; this trade program has been a huge success and a relief for so many mamas with things to trade but no money to buy new things.

In October of 2022 amd again in October of 2023 I was able to donated to this cause through my Delivering Hope annual giveaway, and I find the organization and the Mama’s who run it so, dear to my heart.

Delivering Hope with Rochelle

Delivering Hope with Rochelle started in October 2019 as an idea to have a giveaway through Rochelle’s Facebook/ Instagram business pages “Rochelle Dale- Salmon Arm Shuswap Real Estate”  to encourage everyone to nominate a local Non-Profit or Charity that was near and dear to their hearts. To nominate, you had to comment why you felt your organization could use the $1000 donation from Rochelle and why.

The Giveaway begins on October 1st each year since, and continued collecting nominations until the 14th of October. Rochelle and her assistant Debbie then go through through every nomination and Rochelle handpicks one deserving local Non-Profit.

I had the pleasure of meeting with Thomas of the Literacy Alliance of the Shuswap Society and presenting this incredible non-profit organization with a cheque for $1000. The Literacy Alliance will take that $1000 and purchase $7500 worth of books, to help kids learn to love reading. Their program is such a wonderful addition to our community and I am so grateful to their cause! I am very happy I could help in this way.

I had the pleasure of meeting up with Angela Inskip, she is the Resource Coordinator/ Moderator Volunteer for the Salmon Arm and Area – Mamas for Mamas.
On October 15th, 2022 and then again on October 15th, 2023 I chose one non-profit organization out of the many nominations you all sent in through my Delivering Hope with Rochelle giveaway.
I chose Mamas for Mamas because I feel this donation can help support some of the Mamas in need. This organization has gone above and beyond and continue to support those in our community who need it the most. This organization and the ladies who run is are very dear to my heart!

2021 is the second year Rochelle has held the Delivering Hope Giveaway, and she was so pleased to drop off her donation of $1000 to Monica and Christine of the Non-Profit Group “Friends Feeding Friends” Rochelle got a chance to meet some of the vulnerable in the community and it was a humbling and emotional experience for her. These are our mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers….. it could be one of your loved ones. Rochelle is thankful that we have this group of hardworking volunteers, that show up over and over to make sure everyone has the opportunity to have a healthy meal in a safe environment.

The first Delivering Hope Giveaway in 2019 was awarded to NOSBIS (North Okanagan-Shuswap Brain Injury Society) and it was such a joy for Rochelle to hand deliver the cheque to Carlene Duczek – Executive Director & President of the Board of Directors for NOSBIS.

Rochelle enjoyed this giveaway, it was the first; but definitely not the last Delivery of Hope we will see from her.

Dancing with the Shuswap Stars

As a fundraiser for the Larch Hills Ski Chalet Expansion Project, I learned how to dance The Samba in the Dancing with the Shuswap Stars competition in 2017.  You can check out the live streams here! Who wins is decided by a combination of votes between the judges and audience members. It’s about recognizing that everyone has talent, but it stays hidden unless an opportunity is presented for that talent to blossom. It was a lot of hard work, but I had a great instructor (Jens from City Dance) to help me through it, and the support of many family and friends. Their next event will be another celebration of dance and culture to match last year’s first ever sold out event with a new crop of local celebrities watch them unleash their hidden dance talents to compete for four trophies – a runner up and overall winner in two categories.  For the audience it will be an evening of fun, laughter, good food, drink, great company and exciting entertainment. If you’re not sure, it’s worth the money ask anyone who attended last year’s event. I highly recommend you check out this fun event, but do hurry as tickets sell out quickly! Find out more at: https://skilarchhills.ca/
